Lawyer denies wife assault

A well known solicitor appeared from custody at Stranraer Sheriff Court on Wednesday to deny assaulting his wife in a hotel in Portpatrick.

Robert Fairbairn, 53, of 44 Craigleith Road, Edinburgh, pled not guilty to acting in an aggressive manner and assaulting Nan Fairbairn by striking her on the face and covering her mouth with his hand to her injury in the Crown Hotel on January 31.

He will stand trial on June 20.
