Kinloch man on sex register

A MAN who committed an indecent assault on a woman in New Galloway has been placed on the sex offenders' register.

Kirkcudbright Sheriff Court heard yesterday that Francis Parkinson, 47, who lives in Kinloch, lay on top of the woman on April 24 last year at an address in New Galloway.

Parkinson's lawyer said that his wife was standing by him and that Parkinson had called the victim to apologise.

Sheriff Kenneth Robb also placed Parkinson on probation for three years and ordered him to undertake 180 hours of unpaid work.

107mph by-pass driver banned

A MOTORIST clocked doing 107mph on the A75 near Gatehouse has been banned from the roads for three months.

Michael Burns, 27, of High Cotland, Bladnoch, Wigtown was caught by police on November 3 as he drove along the Gatehouse bypass.

In court at Kirkcudbright yesterday, lawyer Ian Milligan said that a number of people would be affected if Burns lost his licence due to the number of jobs he does and the people he helps out.

Mr Milligan passed over a number of references from his client's employers, which Sheriff Kenneth Robb described as "glowing".

But the Sheriff added: "It is unfortunate that you didn't consider these people before you shot along the A75 at 107 miles per hour. It's just too high."

He added that he would restrict the ban to a minimum which would hopefully allow Burns to keep his jobs. He also fined him 900.

Man admits assaults

A KIRKCUDBRIGHT man has pled guilty to assaulting a man and a woman in Dalbeattie.

Max Lee, 23, of Maxwell Wynd in the town admitted pushing Verity Wilson on the body at Charters Court in Dalbeattie on November 1 last year.

He further admitted stealing 30 from an ATM in the town and striking Steven Sumner with a pool cue to his injury.

Sentence was deferred until February 18.
