THE prolonged and heavy rain on Monday left a stretch of the A714 on the outskirts of Sorbie looking more like a river than a road.

A spokesperson for Dumfries and Galloway Council said the problem had been exacerbated by the water getting under the surface of the carriageway and lifting the tar. Traffic lights have been put in place but the council were unsure how long the repairs would take to complete.
