Glenluce doctor is Scotland’s best
Dr. Nigel Miscampbell and Paula Smith
A GLENLUCE doctor has been voted Scotland’s top GP.
Dr Nigel Miscampbell, who practises at the Four Winds Surgery, came out as number one in the 2012 RCGP Scotland GP of the Year awards.
Patients from across Scotland were asked to nominate their GP for excellence in patient care. Nominations were often moving personal accounts of care and relationships that have made a real difference to the lives of the nominees and their families.
Dr Miscampbell was nominated by Paula Smith from Stranraer, a busy working mum who also acts as a carer for her sister. In her nomination, she highlighted Dr Miscampbell’s vital role in the community and his personable approach to his patients. She wrote that she appreciated “the care and empathy he shows” and that he “respects my position, appears to understand my life, job and … will listen whenever I need him to be there”.
Originally from Belfast, Dr Miscampbell, who is married to Liz, has been in Galloway for more than 16 years. As well as practising at Glenluce, Dr Miscampbell is also a familiar face in Stranraer as he treats patients at the hospital there.
