Gas explosion in Kirkcolm house

A GAS boiler exploded in a Kirkcolm house on Thursday evening - whilst the occupant was inside.

At about 7.10pm, emergency services from Stranraer responded to the explosion at West Kirkbryde Farm.

A spokesperson said: "A number of windows in the house were blown out as a result of the explosion and the only occupant at the time, a 64-year old female occupant was removed to the Galloway Community Hospital with slight shock and for check ups."

The woman was later discharged without need of treatment and she and her husband and his son were required to stay with neighbours overnight pending further full structural and safety examinations of the house and gas systems, to be conducted later today.
