Galloway avoids big freeze

JUST a dusting of snow hit parts of Galloway over the weekend, disappointing some youngsters.

Weather experts had predicted a ‘big freeze’ which would leave transport in chaos and power outages across the country but the only snow visible to most was found on top of the Merrick and Cairnsmore hill ranges.

The Stewartry awoke to white gardens but the snow soon mostly melted away with heavy downpours of rain throughout the afternoon.

The forecast for the week shows sunny spells with a few drops of drizzle.

If you had snow, let us know or send us your pictures to editorial@gallowaygazette.com.
