Funding success for three local youth projects

THREE youth projects in Wigtownshire have been successful in their bid to Dumfries and Galloway’s Youthbank.

Kirkinner youth group, Whithorn Junior youth group and Newton Stewart Duke of Edinburgh group have, collectively, received £1,889.15 to help their groups.

Kirkinner youth group applied for £736.85 for a variety of resources, equipment and games to give young people in the village something to do when they go along to their weekly drop-in night. Similarly, Whithorn junior youth group applied for £452.30 for new resources and games to encourage more young people to attend. Newton Stewart Duke of Edinburgh group desperately needed some new equipment such as rucksacks and compasses for expeditions and applied to D&G Youthbank for £700.

All the groups are extremely pleased to be successful and are looking forward to purchasing and using their new much needed equipment and resources.

Dumfries and Galloway’s Youthbank is a youth led grant giving initiative that encourages groups of young people to apply for money to put their good ideas in to action. Trained Youthbank assessors, who are young people aged 12-25, assess the applications, make site visits and have the final say on what groups get the money. The maximum grant amount is £750.
