Firewalkers show burning ambition

AROUND 20 brave Gallovidians will bare their “soles” on November 5 when undertaking a firewalk to raise money for a cot death charity.
A firewalk involves walking across a bed of hot coals enduring temperatures of up to 800 degrees Fahrenheit (426 degrees Celsius).
The idea was the brainchild of Cat Adams from Clugston Farm near Kirkcowan. Her family – husband Graham, and children Libby, Callum and Duncan – were devastated last year when baby Drew died aged seven weeks. Since then the family have tirelessly raised money for the Scottish Cot Death Trust.
Cat said: “Most of the people doing the firewalk are from Kirkcowan and Stranraer and we will have nothing to prepare us bar a workshop beforehand.
“Actually, I am looking forward to it but I am also quite emotional about how many people are doing the firewalk. I had hoped to raise about £600 but I am well past that already. Hopefully, we are looking a raising thousands.”
The firewalk will take place at 7pm on November 5 in Agnew Park, Stranraer.
