Fires break out in area

A NUMBER of fires took hold across Galloway this week, gutting some vehicles and buildings.

Police and fire crews were called to an incident in Minnigaff late on Monday in which a red Hyundai Getz car parked in the Forest Enterprise car park was badly damaged by fire. Officers are treating the incident as suspicious.

And shortly before 5pm on Wednesday, two fire crews from Newton Stewart and Stranraer were called to Carsecreugh Farm, Glenluce after a blaze broke out in a van on next to a container containing cylinders and petrol.

Also on Wednesday, at around 6.30pm, crews from Whithorn, Newton Stewart, Gatehouse, Kirkcudbright and one Aerial Rescue Tender from Stanraer, along with a supervisory officer, were called out to Elrig where a chicken shed had gone up in flames.
