Galloway MSP Alex Fergusson has expressed his delight at Castle Douglas being chosen for the launch of the Scottish Conservative Rural Campaign for the European Parliamentary Elections this coming Thursday (22nd May).
Speaking after the launch Mr Fergusson said: “I was delighted to welcome Dr Ian Duncan to my constituency for the Rural launch of the Scottish Conservatives European Campaign. A Scottish Conservative presence is absolutely vital in the European Parliament, where we have been well served by Struan Stevenson over the years. However I have no doubt that Ian Duncan is more than capable of filling Struan’s shoes in that regard and believe he will make a first class MEP, and one that promotes the interests of Scotland as a whole within Europe. His previous experience of working within Europe will allow him to hit the ground running, and it is particularly important at this time in Scotland’s history that our MEP’s have the proper focus. Ian Duncan has that focus, and it was a pleasure to welcome him to Galloway and West Dumfries.”
