Farmer faces trial

A Newton Stewart farmer who was seriously injured in a collision between his tractor and a van on the Baltersan straight in June will go on trial next March after he denied driving without due care and attention.

Gordon Service, 41, of Baltersan Farm, pled not guilty by letter to the sheriff court in Stranraer when the case was heard this week. Service is accused of allegedly failing to keep a proper look out to the rear and commencing a right-hand turn into the service road leading to Liggat Cheek, whereby a collision occurred with a Mercedes van resulting in serious injury to the accused and minor injuries to the van driver and a passenger in the van.
