Drunk crashed stolen car

A drunk man who stole a car and then crashed it, injuring his passenger, will be sentenced at Stranraer Sheriff Court on February 2.

Scott Rennie, 27, of 15 Bowling Green Road, Port William, admitted taking the car from an address in South Street in the village on August 13 without the consent of the owner; driving on the A747 without a driving licence; driving dangerously and under the influence of alcohol; driving at excessive speed; failing to keep control of the car by leaving the road and crashing into undergrowth as a result of which James Gilmour was injured; and driving without insurance.

Sheriff Kenneth Robb deferred sentence to allow for background reports.
