Diploma for harbour master

Kirkcudbright harbour master Peter Roberts has received a certificate from Councillor Patsy Gilroy, chairwoman of DG First management committee.

Councillor Gilroy said: “Peter has been the harbour master at Kirkcudbright for 12 years and during his time has made some significant improvements that have contributed to the efficient operation of this facility, the fifth busiest harbour in Scotland.

“Peter has gained the International Diploma for Harbour Masters, recognised by the industry as a significant qualification for those engaged in harbour management. Gaining this qualification bears testimony to Peter’s hard work. The knowledge he has gained will be of great use, both to him and the service, as we continue to develop the operational and legislative aspects of managing our harbours across Dumfries and Galloway.

“We are very fortunate in our authority to have someone with such a qualification. I know Kirkcudbright really appreciates all the work Peter does to manage its harbour efficiently.”
