Louise Kerr hands over the petition to NHS chief executive Jeff Ace

A petition against ending NHS dental provision at Newton Stewart Health Centre, signed by 125 people, was handed over by Galloway Gazette reported Louise Kerr to NHS Dumfries and Galloway chief executive Jeff Ace last Thursday night.

The Galloway Gazette started the petition after local people wanted a tangible way to express their opposition to NHS D&G plans to close the clinic and move NHS patients who use the health centre dentist to independent dental contractors in the town were announced.

No final decision is due to be taken by the NHS board until at least August.
