A new chairman was selected for the Cree District Salmon Fishery Board this week.
After having to cancel a previous meeting scheduled for September 18 and called following the resignation of Jamie Hyslop, the board met on Monday where, elected without opposition was Terence Flanagan, of Auchinleck Lodge, Newton Stewart, rod proprietor, as new Cree chairman.
A spokesman for the board this week said Terence brings a wealth of legal experience to the job as a retired barrister.
Additionally, Terence’s former position as a Cree Board member was filled by the well-known angler Steve ‘Winsby’ Smith, of Villa Cree, Minnigaff.
Steve continues as membership secretary of the Newton Stewart and District Angling Association. The date of the new Open AGM of proprietors was set for Wednesday, October 23.
