THE people of Wigtownshire will star in a slot on the small screen later this week after the BBC’s Countryfile crew landed to film scenes for an upcoming episode of the TV show.

Presenter Matt Baker, who also hosts the corporation’s The One Show, filmed in Wigtown the day before the town’s Spring Festival.

He, John Craven and Ellie Harrison made their way around the region from lobster fishing in Portpatrick, surverying black Guillemots and taking in the flavour of Wigtown’s community spirit with a few performances from musical townsfolk.

Scenes were also filmed in Lockerbie and the show is due to air on Sunday, 20 May.
