Dumfries and Galloway Council will be holding its first ever official Question and Answer session on Facebook tomorrow (Thursday 28 August).
The session will take place between 12noon and 1pm on the Dumfries and Galloway Council Facebook page and you can access it from your PC, tablet, mobile phone or by logging on at your local Library.
This particular Q&A session will focus on DG One, and the move to temporary facilities whilst remedial work is carried out on the DG One building.
• Will swimming classes still be running?
• Where can I park to use the gym in the Loreburn Hall?
• Will it cost me the same as it does just now to play badminton?
• When does DG One close?
These are just some of the questions that have been asked on Social Media in the past few weeks. Officers will be on hand to answer questions posted between 12 noon and 1pm tomorrow.
This is the first of what the council hopes will be many Q&A sessions to be carried out on Social Media, on a range of matters covering various services Council-wide.
Council Leader Ronnie Nicholson said ahead of the Q&A session;
“I have consistently said we need to be a more inclusive council and that means listening to the public and given people the opportunity to ask us questions. Social Media is a wonderful platform for this to happen. It is free, easy to connect to and provides a forum for debate. I hope the public get on and ‘like’ our page tomorrow and get involved in the question and answer session. Our Council hopes to make these a regular occurrence in the upcoming months. The first will involve officers who are organising the temporary facilities whilst remedial work is carried out on the DG One building. In the future, we want to have other sessions involving councillors in areas they have responsibility for. I hope the session is used correctly by the public to ask sensible, meaningful questions and to gain information on a topic which is of interest to them.”
The Q&A session is advertised on the council Facebook page. To gain access to the page and to find out more about Social Media within Dumfries and Galloway Council please visit http://www.dumgal.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=11404
The Q&A session is listed as an Event on the page and requires you to click ‘Join’ in order to be able to take part. Questions can be posted from 9am tomorrow morning on the Event page. Please bear in mind that it is a public forum and posts containing inappropriate language will be taken down.
