Coulthard praises fans for kind support

EX-FORMULA One racing driver David Coulthard thanked his fans for their support this week following the tragic death of his 35-year old sister in her Crossmichael home on Saturday.

Lynsay Jackson was found dead in bed at the home she shared with her husband of less than two years and their eight-month old daughter Emily last Saturday morning.

And DC, as he known to the racing world, took to his Twitter account to praise his fans who have been so kind towards his parents and brother, Duncan.

He said: “Thank you - mum, dad, Duncan and I appreciate your support, Lynsay would have been proud and embarrassed all at the same time. Love life.”

He added in a statement released this week: “I’d like to first take this chance to thank everybody for their overwhelming support over the last two days. It means a huge amount to my family and I. It’s obviously come as a huge shock to us all and we’re still trying to come to terms with it all.”

Police say there were no suspicious circumstances and it is believed Lynsay’s death was down to a possible heart attack.

Although DC left Kirkcudbrightshire as a youngster to follow his motoring dreams, Lynsay remained in Galloway and managed the museum in Twynholm dedicated to her brother for a period as his racing career took off. She married environmental health worker Will Jackson in August 2011 with her family by her side.

It is believed DC returned to Twynholm on Saturday after having to endure a heartbreaking appearance on live TV. He was given the news of his sister’s death moments before joining the BBC’s Saturday Kitchen show, but chose to continue with the appearance before making a sharp exit to travel to Scotland.
