Lord Lieutenent Sir Malcolm Ross presents cheques in Stewartry

Two local charities in the Stewartry have benefited from Her Majesty’s diamond jubilee celebrations.

On Monday, Sir Malcolm Ross, Lord Lieutenant of the Stewartry of Kirkcudbright, alongside Colin Warden, Vice-Lord Lieutenant, presented cheques to Crossroads Caring Scotland and the new Renal Unit in Kirkcudbright hospital. Each charity received £959.

Sir Malcolm expressed his delight that the celebrations enjoyed by many during the diamond jubilee in the Stewartry can now benefit two local charities and thanked the people of the Stewartry for their generosity.

At the same ceremony, Brian Thomson (deacon convener of the six Incorporated Trades of Kirkcudbright) presented both charities with a further cheque for £100 each. These donations came from profits generated at the burger stall that was present throughout the diamond jubilee celebrations.

Those present in the picture (from left to right) are: Mike Rhodes, Incorporated Trades; Colin Warden, Vice-Lord Lieutenant; Sharon Hair, Crossroads Stewartry branch; Lord Lieutenant Sir Malcolm Ross; Jane Aitkens, senior charge nurse, Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary Renal Unit; Jim Duck, deputy lieutenant; and Brian Thomson, deacon convener, Incorporated Trades.
