A meeting held on Monday to discuss the rehoming of user groups from Newton Stewart’s community centre has encouraged the building’s committeeto continue their search for a new facility.
Laura Hunter spoke on behalf of the community centre committee to say: “ The meeting established that people are on the same page and we will continue to search for suitable premises, as the ones offered by council aresimply a stop-gap for now. There will be more meetings held, probably in January, to further this.”
On the same evening, members of Cree Valley Community Council criticised the centre committee for holding a meeting on the same night, meaning no members could attend.
Cree Valley chair John McNaught said: “I find it unbelievable they’re holding it tonight. They asked us to help but how can we when we can’t attend? We’ve had very little correspondence from them from the start.”
