This year’s participant figures are set to soar. The highest recorded numbers of pupils have enrolled with Cairnsmore to take part in their Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh awards.

The programme is delivered by Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Community Learning and Development Service, in partnership with the Douglas Ewart High School. The awards recognise the participants’ wider achievements and invaluable contribution to the local community.

Councillor McClung, Chair of Wigtown Area Committee, said, “The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme encourages young people to become actively involved in their local community through the volunteering, physical and skill sections. It is gratifying to see an increase in the numbers of young people taking part.”
