THE climb of the Ladderlimb to the top of the DIY tool tree continued unabated last weekend when the painter’s third arm aid won the best new tool at the Totally DIY /Totally Tools awards night in Coventry.

Alistair Taylor from New Luce, who invented the tool after spilling a tin of paint on the kitchen floor of his home at Balneil Farm, was ecstatic at the result.

He told The Galloway Gazette: “We were delighted to win the best new product. It’s a busy time as we are off to a trade fair in Dublin this weekend and after that we are looking forward to travelling to Las Vegas as part of a delegation from Scottish Development International going to the national hardware show there when we take Ladderlimb to the US.

“Ladderlimb goes from strength to strength as on Monday we start exporting a huge order to Malta.”

Sponsored by DIY Week, the New Product Awards at the Totally shows are designed to recognise innovation and highlight new and exciting products on show at the exhibition.

Gold and silver certificates were awarded across six categories, with newly-launched tool LadderLimb – a winner at the recent DIY Week Awards – taking home gold. Awards were presented to suppliers by DIY Week editor Fiona Hodge at an exhibitors’ drinks reception on Sunday night, following a successful first day of the show at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.
