14 new jobs for Dumfries

HSBC has opened its new £1.2m branch in Dumfries, marking the first time the bank has had a presence in the town.

The new branch is at 46 High Street and has created 14 new jobs in the town.

John Rendall, CEO of HSBC in Scotland said: “Dumfries has always been an attractive location for HSBC and we’re delighted to be opening on schedule in the town centre. With a large existing customer base in the area, we’ve invested in an experienced team to assist and advise those who prefer to do their banking face-to-face, and state-of-the-art banking facilities to ensure people access the highest levels of customer service.

“Having visited the branch recently, I believe people locally will be struck by the look and feel of the branch, and hope its viewed as a welcome addition to the High Street. We’re looking forward to welcoming people over the coming weeks and months as we set about establishing ourselves within the Dumfries community.”

Councillor Ian Carruthers, chairman of the Planning, Housing and Environment Committee at Dumfries and Galloway Council, added: “I am delighted HSBC has chosen to locate a new branch in Dumfries town centre. Slowly but surely we are reversing the trend of empty shops and businesses. The new branch is sure to have a positive impact on the local economy by bringing HSBC customers into the town centre and through the creation of 14 jobs at the new branch.”
