Have your say

I have just read an article in the Gazette headed “Local charities have a chance of funding”.

Sainsbury’s are looking to partner a local charity for 12 months. The last partner was Mountain Rescue who they helped to raise £4617. That’s about 3 or 4 years worth of fund raising to us, if we work really hard to achieve it.

They’re asking the public to put forward the names of charities based in Wigtownshire that are important to them. Unfortunately it has to be done by 23rd May.

If you are in Sainsbury’s over the next two days, please consider putting our name - Cats Protection - forward. After working with Cats Protection for just over a year, I know we provide a well used service for the people of Wigtownshire, being the only charity that offers free neutering to one and all(last year costing us around £12500) and taking in many cats that others refuse. We do not have the luxury of a homing centre, instead relying on the good will of a few volunteers who foster cats in their homes until a suitable one is found for them.

I understand that there are many worthwhile charities in our local area, but please consider us as one of your choices if you vote.

Many thanks
