Heartfelt thanks are due to a group of local teenagers who, last Wednesday morning, gritted all the lethal icy pavements in Sorbie.
They did this quite of their own volition, providing spades and wheelbarrows themselves, and collecting the grit from a box inconveniently placed at the cemetery, which is some way from the village. Their thoughtful action undoubtedly saved the limbs of many villagers. They deserve commendation from us all.
As a footnote, I should add that the council has now placed a salt box outside the village hall. This did not happen without serious complaints having been made as regards the lack of accessible grit, but, better late than never!
