LETTER: Support wanted to transform park

Members of local community groups met in December to discuss new ideas for developing Douglas Park.

As a result, an open meeting is being held on Tuesday, January 22, at 7pm in Newton Stewart Community Centre to discuss the new proposals, including the development of a BMX track. The group is looking for members of the community to come along and show their support. This is your opportunity to have your say and to be involved in improving facilities in Newton Stewart for children and young people.

The evening will consist of a short presentation followed by tea/coffee and the opportunity to put your ideas forward.

The group has gained support from Dumfries and Galloway Council and elected members, and is well on the way to taking the project forward to the next stage. We now need support from the wider community. If you are unable to make the meeting but would like to show your support please contact Newton Stewart Community Centre on 01671 403261.

Susan McKie,

Newton Stewart.
