LETTER: Bridge help appeal

I write to offer just a few words of thanks for your article about the Cree Bridge (“Celebrating a bridge that spans 200 years of Galloway history”, The Galloway Gazette, February 8).

As an incomer to the area, I found it most interesting, and wondered if John Rennie, the engineer who designed the bridge, was the man who had dealings with Isambard Kingdom Brunel and had an input with the building of the famous granite lighthouse at the top of Scotland.

Chris Etherington,

Carsluith.
