THE first ever winner of The Galloway Gazette Tea Cup for tearoom of the year is Kitty’s in New Galloway.

Gazette editor Martin Laing went along this week to present the owners with their handsome trophy, which the Brown family were thrilled to receive.

Sylvia Brown and her daughter Julie were delighted to be presented with the trophy, which will be put on display in the premises.

Kitty’s is currently closed but re-opens on Easter weekend.

All through 2012 Gazette staff have been sampling the region’s cafes and tearooms to find the best, with a tearoom of the month featured here on the last Friday of each month. And today we begin the search for 2013, with a visit to one of the newer venues: Granny’s Kitchen in Newton Stewart.

If you have a tearoom you think should be featured, email editorial@gallowaygazette.com or write Martin Laing, The Galloway Gazette, 71 Victoria Street, Newton Stewart, DG8 6NL, and we’ll do our best to include your suggestion.
