Rehearsals for the Spring Concert of the Kirkcudbright Choral Society are in full flow.
The concert will be held Saturday 20 April at 7:30pm in the Cochran Hall on the campus of the Kirkcudbright Academy.
It features the well-loved, ethereal “Requiem “ by Gabriele Faure and the very exciting setting of “Magnificat” by John Rutter.
The Choir will be joined by the Stewartry Chamber Orchestra, including harp and organ, and by soloists soprano Susan St. Joseph and baritone, Carl Wiltse. Ms. St. Joseph is well known in the area as a soloist, conductor and teacher of voice. Mr. Wiltse, an American Ex-Pat, has lived in the area for 8 years. He is well known in the States as a composer of vocal and handbell music as well as a baritone soloist and conductor. He currently directs the Newton Stewart Singers and the St. John’s Handbell Choir as well as sings with the St. John’s Dumfries Choir and the Choral Society.
The Choral Society is now in its 120th year and draws singers from across Dumfries and Galloway.
