Diversions in place due to the closure of Kirkcudbright Bridge for a fortnight to allow for resurfacing are causing confusion for drivers approaching from the west.
Instead of turning off the Gatehouse bypass as usual, motorists must continue onwards past Twynholm and turn off before Tarff Valley towards Tongland Bridge.
However, there are no signs on the Gatehouse bypass to warn drivers of the closure, meaning many are turning off as usual and only meeting a ‘road ahead closed’ sign once committed to the A755. And similarsigns once on the diversion turn-off are leading drivers to believe the diversion road is also impassable.
The works are scheduled to finish on 14 November.
