Kirkcudbright Academy has welcomed seven new members of staff at the start of this session.

The new recruits at the Stewarty school are: Miss Gill, Teacher of Music; Mr Davies, Principal Teacher, Curriculum: Language, Literacy & Drama; Mrs Hickman, School Support Manager; Mrs Cluckie, Teacher of Home Economics; Mrs Russell, Support for Learning Teacher; Mrs Morton, Principal Teacher, Curriculum: Maths & Computing and Mrs Stevenson, Teacher of English.

The new Prefect Team at Kirkcudbright Academy also has a busy year ahead. Having identified ‘War Child’ , a small organisation that protects children living in the world’s most dangerous war zones as this year’s school charity, they are keen to deliver an original programme of fundraising activities as well as traditional events such as the Candlemas balls. An added challenge this year is finding an alternative venue for the school dances but the team is already engaging with the local community to identify a suitable venue.

Speaking on behalf of the team, Iona Bonaventura said “Our team is aware that there are many challenges to be faced in the coming year. We hope to tackle these with the help of the local community and to raise as much money as possible for our chosen charity ‘War Child’”.
