A Barrachan woman who won a mountain bike in a raffle is auctioning it off to raise
money for the same charity.

Angela Shiells says at 71 years of age she was amused to take home the child’s bike after buying a few raffle tickets at Newton Stewart’s Sainsbury’s store in support of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.

But with no youngsters in the family of an age to appreciate the bike, she decided to pass it on and raise some cash at the same time.

She said: “The staff had done a run for the charity and the BMX bike had been kindly donated by Kirkcowan Cycles. So rather than us trying to sell it on – and we don’t believe it would go for a fair price considering what it’s worth – I’d love to see someone the right age enjoy it.

“I never win raffles – until
now! I thought it would be
sensible to auction it and give the proceeds to the same
charity supported by the folk at Sainsbury’s.”

The bike is a The Blank Media
2012 BMX Bike and is set up and ready to ride. Identical bikes have been retailing for well over £200 on eBay, so why not
submit a bid to us?

All you need to do is post or email your maximum bid, including all your details such as name, address, phone number and the amount you’re prepared to pay. Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research is the only UK charity dedicated to finding better treatments and cures for all blood cancers, including leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma and must raise over £20 million a year to continue its efforts.
