Joint funding show hailed a success by local authority

Last Thursday, the McMillan Hall, Newton Stewart splayed host to the annual Joint Funding Roadshow for Wigtownshire organised by Dumfries and Galloway Council and Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway.

Over 100 delegates visited the various funders who were there to offer advice and guidance on their funding streams.

Dumfries and Galloway Council hailed the event a success after it featured a range of presentations including “Five Top Tips to Making Better Funding Applications” by the Institute of Fundraising along with more from the Robertson Trust, the Heritage Lottery Fund, Holywood Trust, The Plunkett Foundation, the Big Lottery and also Resourcing Scotland’s Heritage.

One to One sessions were also offered by the Wigtownshire Sports Council, Leader, Sports Scotland, Timebanking, CARES ( Community Renewable Energy Scheme) and Dumfries and Galloway Council to any organisations who wished to attend along with the opportunity to discuss how projects could be funded by drop in.

Chair of the Wigtown Area Committee Marion McCutcheon said: “The co-ordination of these events between our two organisations helps to highlight the importance of joint working and how much we value supporting organisations in their search for funding for their projects.”

The now-annual event will be held again next year on 2 June 2016 at the Ryan Centre Theatre in Stranraer.
