THE Crown Hotel in Newton Stewart and Unit 7 Studio host their second Jazz and Blues night on Thursday.
On the bill is Distilled Records’ latest signing, Steven Finn, back in Galloway to mix his soon-to-be released second LP.
Originally from Manchester, Steven is now based in London and scored a UK Blues Chart number one in 2010 and was described as “one of the best young acoustic guitar players on two legs”. He has, over the years, shared a stage with Martin Carthy, Rory McLeod, Martin Simpson, the Beautiful South, Martin Stephenson, Watermelon Slim, Dougie MacLeod and Elvis Costello.
Headlining the evening are local super(blues) group The Belted Blues Band who promise to deliver another set of gritty underground blues classics.
Taking place on the last Thursday of every month from 8pm, The Crown and Unit 7 Studio’s Jazz and Blues Night hope that the music lovers of Newton Stewart will come out and support our local scene - and for just £5 entry.
