Dumfries and Galloway will undertake a full inquiry into the council data leak, which led to the personal information of 900 employees being mistakenly released into the public domain.
It emerged last week that in response to a Freedom of Information request asking for salary information of employees, the Council mistakenly disclosed the names and dates of birth of staff. These were then published on a public website on March 23 and remained on the website for over two months before the Council discovered the error and asked for it to be removed on June 1.
Council Leader Ivor Hyslop will conduct a full inquiry into the data leak with the first meeting to be held this week.
Councillor Ivor Hyslop said, “I was asked last weeked if I was willing for a full inquiry to go ahead. I said yes because I knew that an inquiry was already underway.”
