Injuries following road crashes

A MINNIGAFF man was rushed to hospital following a road accident near Wigtown on Sunday.

Martin Kane, 18, was taken to Dumfries Infirmary with serious injuries following the collision between his Vauxhall Corsa and a red Vauxhall Vivaro van driven by a 55-year-old Whithorn man, who suffered minor injuries. Police say the accident happened at around 1.40pm near Trammondford football ground on the B7005.

It is believed Mr Kane has undergone a number of operations to his ankles, pelvis, face and other areas and is scheduled for more surgery in Glasgow.

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the Corsa on the A714 towards Wigtown between 1.30 and 1.40pm on Sunday. Anyone with information can contact police on 08456005701 or Crimestoppers on 0800555111.

n At 2pm on Sunday, a fire appliance came off the Wigtown A714 road at the house known as Dantoni. Two crew members sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash.
