For the first time, Whithorn Primary School Parent Council decided to host Hallowe’en parties for the children at school this year.

Forty-four children attended a party from nursery to P3 the evening of Friday, November 1, and 43 children from P4 to P7 came to the later party. The ‘scary mum’ helpers all entered into the spirit of things and wore some gruesome costumes! The children all had a brilliant time playing lots of fun games and enjoyed a snack before heading home.

There was a guess the weight of the pumpkin competition in the lead up to the party which the whole community had the chance to take part in, as sheets were left in local shops. The winner of the £10 prize money with the nearest weight of 15.5Kg was P1 pupil Isla Cathers. The pumpkin weighed in at an impressive 15.65Kg and was very kindly donated to the parent council by a local person who grew the pumpkin in a garden in Whithorn.
