The Galloway Mountain Rescue Team were called to Cairnsmore of Fleet as the light faded on Tuesday to help search for a local man who had become disorientated when descending the hill.
The 22-year old had been walking his dog but called for help after losing his way when the clouds came down at around 9.50pm.
Depute Team Leader Ken McKenzie who led the search said: “We used the SARLoc system to get a location fix on the walker and by talking to him on his mobile phone, we guided him to the summit cairn.
“It was a relatively straightforward exercise to make our way to that location and walk him off the hill. He was a bit cold, but otherwise safe and well. We were off the hill shortly after midnight”.
