SIX big hearted teenage pupils from the Douglas Ewart High School climbed Cairnsmore last Sunday to raise funds for the Macmillan Cancer Care charity.

Jenna Stead, Emma Robinson, Sarah Cloy, Fay Wallace, Laura Brown and Rose Nash all climbed the 711 metre high hill in their pyjamas. They were accompanied by Jenna’s Dad Chris, also suitably attired in his pyjama suit.

The girls decided to climb Cairnsmore in aid of Macmillan cancer because some of their family members are suffering from cancer.

Rose said: “We went up in the rain and cloud but we were still boiling in the suits! Thank you to everyone that sponsored us. Thanks to them we made a total of £585.25 just from sponsors and we still have a coffee morning coming up on Thursday 26th of July from 1-4pm at Millaries Farm, Sorbie, to raise a bit more money, anybody is welcome to come along for a cup of tea and some cake!

Our aim was to raise £100 but we got well over that!”
