ORGANISATION of the fifth annual Galloway Thistle fundraising evening is underway with three worthy causes chosen to benefit.
With Gimme Abba returning to entertain the crowds along with a 70s/80s disco, the charities of MacMillan Nurses, Alzheimers Scotland, Newton Stewart and three local kids who travel to Yorkhill Kids Hospital for treatment are all set to be boosted financially.
Organiser Jason Adair said: “So far we have handed over nearly £16,000 to our chosen charities over the years. Once again on the night we have sporting and other various items in our auction - we have signed tops from Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeeen’s Nial McGinn, Man Utd, Man City, Barcelona, Chelsea and a pair of igned boots from Everton and Scotland star Steven Naismith as well as two match-worn tops from Irish captain Steven Davis (his last-worn old firm shirt and an Irish top).
“Other items on offer are from Dynamo the Magician, Rod Stewart, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber and top boy band One Direction. Perhaps the top prize up for auction on the night is the chance for eight people to have a three or four course meal cooked for them in their home by Newton Stewart chef Richard Neill and currently the bid sits at 150 pounds.
“A raffle will take place and there are also prizes for the best 70/80s outfits including lunch for two at Kirroughtree and a night in for two with a Chinese meal, wine and DVDs.”
The event takes place on 11th May at the McMillan Hall in Newton Stewart and tickets are priced at £10. For all enquiries please call 07877 202151 or check on the club’s facebook page Galloway Thistle Megacharity Fundraiser No5.
