Galloway seems to have become a mecca for television programmes recently.
Yesterday the BBC TV series, Countryfile, began filming at a number of Wigtownshire locations for a programme on Dumfries and Galloway to be aired on Sunday, May 20.
Matt Baker, one of the show’s presenters, is currently on location with a film crew around the Mull of Galloway, Portpatrick, Wigtown and Creetown.
Today (Friday) the popular BBC One presenter will be filming in Wigtown and an appeal went out on Wigtown Book Festival’s Facebook page asking for people to come into the county town to create a festival atmosphere and perhaps get the chance to see themselves on TV. Details of where filming is taking place are posted outside the County Buildings.
“We are delighted that Countryfile will again be featuring the region,” commented Chamber of Commerce President, Peter Jeal.
“This type of exposure on UK-wide TV helps to raise the profile and showcase the area which we hope will encourage more people to discover what Wigtownshire in particular has to offer visitors.”
It was also rumoured that presenter Amanda Lamb was filming an episode of “A place in the Sun” for Channel 4 recently in Port William, although this was not confirmed by the commercial TV station.
