There was success for Galloway breeders at the recent Great Yorkshire Show last week down at Harrogate.

The Ramsay family from Millisle Farm, Garlieston, had a superb few days with their Clydesdale horses.

Elaine Ramsay won the single heavy horse championships with Glen and followed that up the following day with the heavy horse pairs championship with Glen and Flash.

Then it was her father’s turn to grab the glory when Hugh senior won the team of four heavy horse championships with Glen Flash, Jack and Bobby.

This is only the second time that Millisle Clydesdales have won all three classes at the prestigious agricultural show, the last time being in 2006.

In the beef cattle section Kyla Graham from Irelandton Farm, Twynholm, won the Belted Galloway Championship with heifer Auchengassel Made My Day. Kyla also won the heifer yearling and the group of three classes in the Beltie section.
