Galloway Pageant begins in style

The Galloway Pageant kick-started itself with the usual big crowd last Sunday when the Creebridge House Hotel opened up its grounds once again for the sashing of the queen elect.

In a change from the advertised plan, Queen Elect Zoe King stood down due to unforeseen circumstances but chief maid Leilani Bartlett was only too happy to step up to the job and take the role.

Leilani, who just the week before had been rushed to A&E where she spent a number of days being treated after suffering a back injury, was able to take the sash with the support of her back brace, which has allowed to her come home to Newton Stewart from hospital.

The pageant continues throughout the week with a day of parades and fun on Saturday in Newton Stewart. See brochures, available in local shops, for full details.SGGY
