AS part of their festive fundraising campaign, Galloway Mountain Rescue Team were out in force in Newton Stewart over the festive period.
While some of the team braved the elements rattling collection cans on Victoria Street and outside Sainsbury’s, others officially launched the 2013 Newton Stewart Walking Festival.
Ton Kolly, organiser of the collection campaign, said: “We were delighted with the campaign. The generosity of the shoppers and people who stopped to chat helped us raise £572. Considering how quiet the town was on the day, this really was fantastic.”
David McNicol, team fundraiser, said: “With increased team costs following the opening of the new base in the town and other financial pressures, fundraising has never had such an important focus.
“We are delighted that everyone is so supportive of our voluntary work.”
