A Galloway Christmas tree has pride of place at Downing Street just now after Garrocher Tree Farm from Creetown won the Champion Christmas tree grower for 2012.
Last week the 22 foot Nordmann Fir was delivered to the best know address in London by tree farm owner Mike Craig.
A proud Mike had the honour of personally taking the tree down to 10 Downing Street and watched as it was lit by Prime Minister David Cameron earlier this week.
Last month the Garrocher Tree Farm was judges the best in Britain by the British Christmas Tree Growers Association (BCTGA).
Mike Craig said: “It’s a real honour to have our tree stand outside one of the country’s most famous residences. We really enjoyed our visit to Downing Street and it was great to watch the tree being decorated.”
Harry Brightwell, secretary for the BCTGA added: “The presentation of the winner’s Christmas tree to Downing Street is always a highlight on the association’s calendar and Mike’s tree looks splendid.
