A Newton Stewart woman who fell 10ft from the door of an aeroplane onto a Spanish runway is making a “good recovery” in hospital. Katherine Ferguson from Viewhills Road was boarding a flight from Palma in Majorca when the accident happened. Katherine’s husband, Campbell, said: “As she got to the top of the stairs the driver moved the steps away. The steps should not be moved until the door of the plane is shut. Katherine was thrown forward and managed to hold onto the door before falling onto the tarmac.” Thankfully she only suffered cuts and bruising.
