A former Stranraer solicitor and honorary sheriff has appeared in court charged with 82 counts of dishonesty, involving alleged embezzlement of £900,000 from clients. John Kennedy Forster, 54, who was senior partner at the now defunct Ferguson and Forster law firm, appeared at Stranraer Sheriff Court on Wednesday. The proceedings, which were heard in private, came after a three-year police investigation.
Campaigners fighting to save a school from closure have highlighted the influx of new residents to the village. Nine families have moved to Sorbie in the past two years and all said the village school played a part in their decision. Chair of Sorbie School Board Nicholas Biggins said the survey shows Sorbie school is sustainable.
