A delicious taster menu of 16 foodie events have been revealed as the line up for this year’s Flavour Taster.

Taking place over May Bank Holiday weekend, from 3-6 May Flavour Taster encourages people to discover the region’s artisan food and drink produce by indulging in a series of delicious experiences.

The programme includes hands on events such as ‘Working with Chocolate’ at Abbott’s Chocolate in Langholm, ‘Make your own artisan pizza’ at the Earth’s Crust Bakery in Laurieston and ‘Have your cake and eat it!’ at the Granite Kitchen in Dalbeattie.

Tasters will be on offer at Dumfries Farmers’ Market, at two tasting events, ‘Meet the Producer’ and ‘Sausage Saturday’, at John D Owen & Son in Newton Stewart and at ‘Cheese & Wine at the Mill’ at Galloway Farmhouse Cheese in Sorbie.

You can tuck into delicious dining at Brodies of Moffat’s ‘Local Flavours’ menu, take part in a repeat of the sell out ‘Steak Night’ at A Taste of Galloway near Thornhill, enjoy a ‘Tapas Evening’or ‘Sunday Lunch’ at the Granite Kitchen in Dalbeattie and delight in a ‘Return of the Old Favourites’ to Abbey Cottage Tearoom to celebrate their 30th birthday.

Open days and tours will give you a fascinating behind the scenes experience at producers including Moffat Water Foods who will take visitors on a ‘Rainbow Trout Tour’, ‘Waulkmill Cider’s Tour and Stovie Supper’ at Langholm, a ‘Dawn Chorus Walk’ around Cream o’ Galloway and a free ‘Brewery Tour’ at Sulwath Brewers.

Flavour Taster was developed by Savour the Flavours to give visitors to Dumfries and Galloway a bite sized taste of region wide food festival Flavour Fortnight, which takes place in late summer. Dumfries and Galloway is increasingly becoming known as an artisan food destination and the 16 events taking place during Flavour Taster will give visitors the opportunity to connect with local produce and the people who create it in a variety of ways.

Liz Ramsay, Project Manager of Savour the Flavours, said: “Flavour Taster will help introduce foodies to Dumfries & Galloway and encourage visitors who are already here to discover the flavours of our region, and we hope it will encourage more visitors to return for longer breaks during Flavour Fortnight later in the year.”

Savour the Flavours is Dumfries and Galloway’s food network and it is funded by LEADER and Dumfries and Galloway Council.
