Firefighters tackle blaze at farm outhouse

Investigators are trying to establish the cause of a fire at an outhouse on farmland near Stranraer.

At 8.17am today (Tuesday 13 December) the fire and rescue service was called to a fire at an outhouse in a remote area of farmland near Stranraer.

Two appliances were immediately mobilised to the scene from Stranraer fire station. A further two were then called from Newton Stewart a short while later.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Firefighters in breathing apparatus initially tackled the blaze with the use of high pressure water hoses.

“Crews remain at the scene and are currently involved in dampening down operations.

“We are currently working with Police Scotland to establish a cause.”
