During 2013 Wigtown in Bloom received a grant from the Lottery Fund to plant a Marie Curie Field of Hope around the bowling green and over 12,000 bulbs were planted.
This is the first season in flower and is now giving a spectacular display. Many visitors and residents have taken photo’s and praised the show of daffodils. There are not many families who have not been affected by cancer and the organisers hope that this ‘Field of Hope’ will help to raise awareness of this disease.
People present were members of Wigtown in Bloom. Abigail Stewart (seated centre) representing the Rainbows who also helped with planting. Paulene Plunkett (seated left) from the cancer group. Ann Marie Sullivan (seated second left) from Marie Curie. and Mid Galloway Councillor Jim McColm Who we can always rely on for help and support.
